AS A GUEST OF OAK GROVE and as a migratory bird hunter, we remind you that it is your primary responsibility to understand the rules and regulations of waterfowl hunting and Oak Grove Hunting Club. First, you must obtain both a state or out-of-state hunting license and a federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp, better known as a “duck stamp”. You may also need to get a state waterfowl stamp. Please make sure that before you enter the duck blind you have all the necessary paperwork.

SAFETY is of the utmost importance and your host will give a safety lecture before dinner on the first evening. Safety rules are posted in the gunroom and in the boat house. Please adhere to these rules.

HUNTER ETHICS AND SAFETY

No more than 3 persons to a blind (including a guide).

Respect your fellow hunter - don’t crowd in and do obey the game laws.

Shoot in range and use a retriever to reduce crippling losses.

Share your outdoor experiences - take a youth hunting.

For your safety and that of your friends, always be alert to natural and man-made hazards.

Handle guns carefully. Remember, large shot shell pellets carry long distances. Be sure your field of fire is clear of other hunters, dwellings, or domestic animals.

A HUNTER’S PLEDGE Responsible hunting provides unique challenges and rewards. However, the future of the sport depends on each hunter’s behavior and ethics.

  • Respect the environment and wildlife

  • Show consideration for non-hunters

  • Know and obey the law

  • Pass on an ethical hunting tradition

  • Strive to improve my outdoor skills and understanding of wildlife

  • Respect property and landowners

  • Hunt safely

  • Support wildlife and habitat conservation

  • Hunt only with ethical hunters

By following these principles of conduct each time I go afield, I will give my best to the sport, the public, the environment, and myself. The responsibility to hunt ethically is mine; the future of hunting depends on me.
